Werner Herzog waxes philosophical in this study of the people and phenomena of the South Pole. It's pretty fascinating, if a bit slow, with lots of Shackleton references.
I saw this movie and also thought it was interesting. I spent some time thinking about the implications of the fact that his subjects clearly weren't in on the joke ... they were chosen for (and edited to enhance, likely) their freakiness, but many clearly did not realize this. I guess the most interesting thing about that is that Herzog treats these folks in much the same way these folks treat their subjects ... is turnabout fair play?
