miami vice

ok folks, I'm back!! I re-entered the movie world with miami vice. Colin Farrell's hair was utterly distracting, Jamie Foxx had no character, Gong Li was somewhat intriguing but also a little out of place. I like Michael Mann so I was willing to go along for the ride, but the movie dragged a bit and didn't amount to much in the end. which isn't to say that I didn't like it - I did.

nacho libre

I finally saw a movie. please understand that neglecting films and my blogging duties hurts me much more than it hurts you. everything about studying for the California bar hurts. that said, nacho libre was an excellent antidote. I don't think I got most of the jokes, but it was a very pleasant feeling to sit back and watch jack fight strange pixie demons.

the devil wears prada

I realize it is silly of me to be disappointed in how formulaic and predictable this movie was. the only truly appropriate responses to the film are: "what pretty clothes" and "Meryl Streep is great." I thought I would be writing that the movie was better than the book, but they're actually different enough that comparison seems unwarranted. the clothes were pretty. Meryl Streep was great.
