the hangover

if I only end up seeing one movie in the theatres this summer, I'm glad it was this one. clever and funny and just stupid enough, this is sheer summer, R-rated, comedy enjoyment.

spinning into butter

an earnest movie based on a play about a 'racial incident' at an almost all-white college in Vermont that attempted to diversify. Sarah Jessica Parker plays the dean of students viewed as sympathetic to the 'minorities' based on her previous experience at an all-black college in Chicago. pretty annoying stuff, but watchable.
